118 Days Later, Fox News Finally Identifies Rove As Informal Adviser To McCain

As ThinkProgress has noted with our repeated use of the “The Rove Watch” clock, Fox News has failed to properly identify Karl Rove as an informal adviser to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). As ThinkProgress has noted with our repeated use of the “The Rove Watch” clock, Fox News has failed to properly identify Karl Rove as an informal adviser to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). Since signing on as a “Fox News contributor” in February, Rove, a maxed-out donor to McCain, has provided electoral maps to the campaign, admitted learning about insider information in a “private gathering” with the senator, and repeatedly shilled for McCain on the network. But yesterday on Hannity & Colmes — ... Read More

MyDD Guidelines Deluxe

Keywords: , , ,

Here are the guidelines for the MyDD community:

  • Users who are bashing or attacking any other user on the site, including authors of diaries and frontpage postings, will be banned. Candidates and politicians are fair game (but that doesn’t mean you can use inflammatory language against candidates).
  • Post as many comments as you like, but users that post comments that do nothing but name-call, denigrate the site users, or make inflammatory remarks will either be warned, or outright banned.
  • Titles of diaries should not be inflammatory, call out other users or the site, and will be deleted if not edited out, and the user banned.
  • Post only 1-2 diaries per day. No single or two-line diaries–if it’s a comment, put it in a comment thread. Don’t clutter the diaries with foolish commentary on MyDD itself. Do not create a diary that attacks another user.
  • Do not troll rate (rating as 0) another user’s comment unless it is a comment that is an attack on another user. Abusing this privilege will result in all your ratings being erased and/or getting a warning, or being banned.
  • ‘Trusted users’ are those users that have ‘mojo’ and are able to ‘review hidden comments’ and can rate any of those posts hidden by a ‘0′ ranking. If a trusted user deems the post should not be hidden, they can ‘rescue’ the post with a ‘1′ rating.
  • Users who are excessively bashing the Democratic Party, or being Republican trolls, will be banned.
  • Users who are spamming the site with unrelated material or the like will be banned.

The administrating of MyDD is a group effort, and unfortunately we will fail to have the time to notice every case of abuse of the guidelines.

Having said that, I’d like to add my own two cents. Below are a few of my pet peeves that, if they don’t get you banned, may get your diary deleted or a stern warning (cuz I’m a bad ass.)

  • Two line diaries? Really? If you have a quick comment to make and there’s no open thread, go ahead and make a diary out of it but give it some thought and give us more than a couple lines. Have some respect for the blog and its readers by taking the time to flesh out your thoughts to make it worth the time to read. And no, adding a video doesn’t make it substantive. 1 or 2 line drive-by diaries are just lame.
  • Obama supporters who say they want unity but only breed division. I’m truly amazed at the lack of self-awareness of some Obama supporters who evangelize for their candidate by tearing down his opponent and/or her supporters. If you are an Obama supporter and you intend to bash a Hillary supporter or Hillary herself, think for a second “What would Barack do?” If your actions betray the very rationale of the candidacy of your candidate, try selling your BS elsewhere.
  • Clinton supporters who parrot right-wing talking points to go after Obama. You want to know why there’s a double standard? Because the talking points some Clinton supporters use to go after Obama are so blatantly from the pages of RedState and the airwaves of Hannity and Rush and by most standards have no place on a Democratic blog. You simply will not make friends here if you intend to be an amplifier of the anti-Obama crap spewing from those outlets. Yes, I understand that the Obama campaign attacked Hillary from the right on issue after issue and the pro-Obama elements in the blogosphere closed their eyes and ears to it, I realize that. But we are where we are now and the rightwing smear shit simply will not be tolerated.
  • Obama supporters who think Clinton is mean and her attacks were unfair and she should have gotten out in March and…well, to borrow a phrase, if you can’t stand the heat…
  • Cut the retaliatory ratings wars. Let me repeat: the ratings system is only to be used to punish people who’ve broken the rules, not to downrate a comment with which you simply disagree. That’s called being a baby. We can’t stop every instance of this crap, we simply can’t. Civility around here depends on good faith among its users and some maturity and sometimes, yes, sometimes even some turning of the other cheek and being the bigger person.

OK, I think that’s the end of my rant. I’d like the community here to be a balanced one, full of supporters of both candidates, but I’m going to need your help. Do me a favor and try writing something constructive rather than destructive today. Just as Barack and Hillary have cooled the attacks on one another, I hope during this transition period to the general we begin to see their supporters do the same.
